OLD MASTERS AND EARLY MODERNS

The tour, which begins with the panel Charity by Lucas Cranach the Elder, executed in 1537, spans from the European Renaissance to the end of the 18th century, with a selection of pieces that offer the perspective of a common culture shared by the old masters of European art.

To these works are added, in a harmonious coexistence, Novo-Hispanic and Mexican art, including a piece by Manuel de Arellano and another belonging to the circle of Juan Rodríguez Juárez. It is worth mentioning that the Collection has two of the best groups of New Spanish paintings in the Americas and Europe.

The 16 artists that make up this first section are: Lucas Cranach, the Elder (Kronach, 1472 - Weimar, 1553), Bronzino (Florence, 1503 - Florence, 1572), Pieter Brueghel, the Younger (Brussels, 1564 - Antwerp, 1638), Peter Paul Rubens (Siegen, Westphalia, 1577 - Antwerp, 1640), El Greco (Candia, Crete, 1541 - Toledo, 1614), Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (Seville, 1617 - Seville, 1682), Anthony van Dyck (Antwerp, 1599 - Blackfriars, London, 1641), Canaletto (Venice, 1697 - Venice, 1768), Giandomenico Tiepolo (Venice, 1727 - Venice, 1804), Francisco de Goya y Lucientes (Fuendetodos, Zaragoza, 1746 - Bordeaux, 1828), Juan Pantoja de la Cruz (Valladolid, 1553 - Madrid, 1608), Manuel de Arellano (Mexico City, 1662 - Mexico City, 1722), Círculo de Juan Rodríguez Juárez (Mexico City, 1675 - Mexico City, 1728), Ferdinand Bol (Dordrecht, 1616 - Amsterdam, 1680), Joshua Reynolds (Plympton, 1723 - London, 1792) and Thomas Gainsborough (Sudbury, 1727 - London, 1788).
